OPPONENT HISTORY:
Wisconsin Lutheran leads the all-time series 36-11.
The Warriors have won 15 straight games against Alverno, dating back to 2017. That season, the Inferno swept WLC, taking both ends of the doubleheader by scores of 10-4 and 4-3 (8 inn.). That concluded a stretch in which Alverno won five of six matchups with the Warriors.
Aurora leads the all-time series 34-3.
The Spartans have had great success in this all-time series, but lost in the 2024 season to the Inferno. In that game, the Inferno were victorious by a score of 7-2, thanks in large part to a four-run bottom of the sixth that extended Alverno's lead from 3-2 to 7-2. Lexi Hess had the big hit in the game, as her three-run double put the nail in the coffin for the Inferno's win.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT:
Wisconsin Lutheran College Warriors – 2026 Record: 16-20, 8-12 NACC | 2025 Record: 9-29, 4-20 NACC
The Warriors are on the cusp of finding themselves back in the NACC playoffs after a tough year in 2025, as they have already doubled their number of wins in the NACC and are close to finishing with double the number of wins overall with four games to go.
The Warriors have had a comparable offense to Alverno this year, sitting with a .288 batting average with 59 XBH. However, they have a solid pitching staff throughout the season, as they rank eighth in the NACC with a 4.14 ERA.
Offensively, the Warriors are led by Sommer Krull, who is hitting .388 and has driven in 18 runs on two homers and eight doubles. Following Krull, only Maritza Martinez is hitting over .300 among qualifying batters, as she is hitting .322 with five doubles and three triples this year. Katelyn Ruth leads the team with nine doubles despite just 53 at-bats and is hitting .340 in limited action at the plate.
Teagan Pivin leads the Warriors staff, posting a sparkling 2.14 ERA, fourth in the NACC, in 85 innings pitched. She leads the team with 50 strikeouts and has five saves, which is tops in the conference. Alyssa Dinnauer has been a reliable arm for Wisconsin Lutheran as well, posting a 3.88 ERA and a team-high two complete games in 52.1 innings pitched.
Aurora University Spartans – 2026 Record: 24-12, 14-6 NACC | 2025 Record: 23-18, 13-11 NACC
The Spartans have already clinched a spot in the 2026 NACC Tournament and will look for a strong weekend finish to slot themselves into a top seed for the postseason. Currently, they are tied in fourth place with Concordia Wisconsin but have four games to push ahead of Benedictine and Lakeland, who each only have a one-game lead over the Spartans.
Aurora has boasted one of the best offenses in the NACC this year, as they rank second in the league in batting average (.349) and slugging percentage (.470). Their pitching has been solid as well, helping to back up a strong lineup, posting a 3.86 ERA over 36 games this year.
The Spartans have a good mix of bats in their lineup, mixing players with good contact skills at the top of their lineup with big bats to drive in. Lily Komperada ranks fourth in the NACC in slugging percentage (.778) as she has seven homers, six triples, and 11 doubles this year, with a .370 batting average. She is third in the NACC with 42 RBI as well, as she is one of the premier middle-of-the-order bats in the league. Angie Delgado is sixth in the NACC with a .448 batting average, while Mia Rivera isn't far behind with a .440 mark of her own. Stephani DeBise is hitting .435 with a 1.113 OPS as she has a team-best 12 doubles and three homers.
Aurora has relied heavily on two arms as Mia Rivera and Emma Way have accounted for all but 25.2 of their 230.1 innings pitched this season. Rivera leads the team in almost every pitching category, as she has a 3.40 ERA, a 12-4 record, and 15 complete games this season in 105 innings pitched. Way has been just as good, with a 3.86 ERA in 99.2 innings pitched and a 9-7 record.
LAST TIME OUT FOR THE INFERNO:
The Alverno College softball team traveled up to the Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) on Tuesday afternoon, taking on the Raiders in Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) action. MSOE took game one in five innings, 9-1, before a close game in the nightcap went the way of the Raiders by a score of 6-3.
Sophomore
Nadya Hudson (Milwaukee, Wis./Wauwatosa East) and senior
Giselle Moreno (Chicago, Ill./Lane Tech) each had three hits on the day, with Hudson homering and doubling in game two, and Moreno adding a double in each game. Five Inferno batters had multi-hit outings in the game two loss, stranding ten runners on base in the 6-3 loss.
INFERNO TO WATCH:
Hudson took the team lead in homers on Tuesday, as she has five on the season to Moreno's four. The two will have four games to battle out for the team lead, with two games at home on Sunday. All four of Moreno's homers have come at home, while two of Hudson's five have come on the road.
BY THE NUMBERS:
Moreno has moved into second place all-time for total bases on the Alverno all-time leaderboards with 241 in her career, trailing Stef Wilmore, who had 292 in four seasons.
UP NEXT:
The doubleheader against Aurora on May 3 will conclude the Inferno softball season.
