MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The Alverno College softball team will take on Maranatha Baptist on Tuesday, March 31, at 3 & 5 p.m. for their final non-conference matchups of the 2026 season.

OPPONENT HISTORY:
Alverno leads the all-time series 30-5.
The Inferno have won 12 straight games against the Sabercats, but the teams have not met since 2017. Maranatha last beat Alverno in April of 2011, but since then the Inferno have dominated, outscoring the Sabercats 175-8.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT:
Maranatha Baptist University Sabercats – 2026 Record (0-8) & 2025 Record (0-33)
The Sabercats are currently winless in the 2026 campaign, as they will come to Alverno looking to pick up their first win since March 29, 2021.

Offensively, Megan Anderson leads the way for the Sabercats, hitting .294 over the first eight games. She has five hits and four RBI, both the best marks on the team. Lily Snow has four hits and two RBI, while hitting .267 for Maranatha, and Ryleigh Bill has driven in three runs and also has four hits.

In the circle, Sarah Strauch leads the team with 28.1 innings pitched, also adding four complete games.

LAST TIME OUT FOR THE INFERNO:
The Alverno College softball team returned home on Sunday afternoon for a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) doubleheader against Rockford, putting together a record-setting offensive performance despite falling in both contests. The Inferno dropped game one 10-5 before an explosive showing in game two resulted in a 24-16 loss.

Game two saw Alverno etch its name into the program record book, setting a single-game program record for home runs with four blasts, while also tallying a single-game program record for hits in a conference game (19). Senior Giselle Moreno (Chicago, Ill./Lane Tech) led the historic effort, tying the program's single-game records with two home runs and ten total bases in a dominant performance at the plate.

Moreno paced a breakout offensive day for the Inferno, finishing game two with four hits and six RBI, while also recording two hits and an RBI in game one. Sophomore Nadya Hudson (Milwaukee, Wis./Wauwatosa East) had five hits across both games, including her first two collegiate home runs, while junior Alyssa Hubli (Kenosha, Wis./St. Joseph Catholic Academy) had six hits on the day. Senior Emily Anguiano (South El Monte, Calif./San Gabriel Mission) had multi-hit days in both games, while adding to the home run total in game two with her first homer of the season.

INFERNO TO WATCH:
After her career day on Sunday, Moreno is the Inferno to watch, as she will look to keep her bat hot against the Sabercats. Against Rockford, the senior went 6-8 with two home runs, seven RBI, and three runs scored, lifting her season average from .195 up to .286. For her career, she now has 17 homers and 128, both top 10 marks in the program's history.

The Inferno return to Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) action on Saturday, April 4, when they head to MSOE for a noon doubleheader against the Raiders.
