Meet Results
KENOSHA, Wis. – The Alverno College cross country team competed at the Vic Godfrey Open at the National Cross Country Course, hosted by UW-Parkside. The team came in ninth place, racing against Division I and II schools alongside familiar Division III and NAIA opponents.
For the Inferno, sophomore
Bailey Gardner (Winnipeg, Manitoba/University of Winnipeg Collegiate) was the top finisher once again, following up her top finish last week for Alverno. Gardner came in 90
th place overall, finishing with a time of 24:25.5. Close behind her was senior
Lylah Wise (Kingman, Ariz/Arizona State Preparatory) who was 92
nd with a time of 26:42.5.
Senior Kate Peabody (Sycamore, Ill./Sycamore) was the next Inferno runner across the line, finishing in 95
th place with a time of 30:40.9. Not far behind her was junior
Jaycee Reyes (Tuscon, Ariz./Ironwood Ridge) in 97
th place, who finished with a time of 31:21.9 in her first collegiate race. Senior
Hailie Eschbach (Kenosha, Wis./Tremper) was the final Alverno runner to cross the line, finishing with a time of 31:22.0 in her first race since her freshman year.
Division II Winona State was the team winner at the meet, despite their top finisher coming in fourth, as they had their top five runners all within the top 11 runners. Johanna Ebert of Division II UW-Parkside won the race, finishing with a time of 14:15.02.
The team is next in action on Saturday, Sept. 13 as they head to the Ken Weidt Cross Country Classic in Mequon, Wisconsin, hosted by Concordia Wisconsin.
