MEQUON, Wis. – The Alverno College cross country team competed in the Wisconsin Private College Championships on Saturday, Oct. 18, racing at the Concordia Wisconsin Cross Country Course in Mequon, Wisconsin. The Inferno finished in 8
th place on the day, competing against the various private college Division III teams in Wisconsin.
Competing in her first race of the season, sophomore
Felicity Bauerle (Burlington, Wis./Burlington) was the first Inferno to finish her race, coming in 58
th place with a time of 35:08.5. Graduate student
Rosie Robles (Milwaukee, Wis./Carmen Southeast) finished second for Alverno for the second straight meet, improving by over a minute on a course she raced on just over a month ago. She placed 60
th with a time of 36:51.5, a new career best mark in the 6k.
Senior
Morgan Whitten (Columbus, Miss./Columbus Christian) placed 64
th for the Inferno, posting a season-best time of 38:42.8. Seniors
Lylah Wise (Kingman, Ariz./Arizona State Preparatory) and
Katherine Peabody (Sycamore, Ill./Sycamore) rounded out the Alverno five on Saturday, finishing 70
th and 71
st with times of 42:09.7 and 43:43.1, respectively.
Concordia Wisconsin won the meet as they had the top two finishers in Emma Ahrens and Melanie Arvis.
The Inferno will get two weeks off before their next race, the Northern Athletic Collegiate Conference (NACC) Championships, which are set for Saturday, Nov. 1 at noon in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The race will take place at the Shorewood Cross Country Course, hosted by St. Norbert.
