WEST ALLIS, Wis. – The Alverno College cross country team raced in the Warrior Invitational on Saturday, competing at Greenfield Park in a meet hosted by Wisconsin Lutheran. The Inferno finished in 11
th place on the day, competing against a variety of Division III institutions and running clubs
For the fourth time this season, sophomore
Bailey Gardner (Winnipeg, Manitoba/University of Winnipeg Collegiate) finished with the top time for Alverno. Her time of 34:57.12 placed her 66
th overall. Graduate student
Rosie Robles (Milwaukee, Wis./Carmen Southeast) finished second for Alverno, improving by nearly three minutes from her time on the same course a year ago. She placed 71
st with a time of 38:28.09.
Senior
Morgan Whitten (Columbus, Miss./Columbus Christian) placed 78
th for the Inferno, posting a time of 40:11.69, a six-kilometer season best. She was followed by senior
Lylah Wise (Kingman, Ariz./Arizona State Preparatory), who posted a career best time in the 6k, finishing in 43:37.69 for 81
st place. Senior
Katherine Peabody (Sycamore, Ill./Sycamore) rounded out the Alverno five on Saturday, finishing 86
th with a time of 47:47.77.
Wisconsin Track Club took the team win with the top finishers, as Wisconsin Lutheran finished second to lead the Division III schools. Dasha Voronotsov won the race with a time of 22:04.39 for Wisconsin Track Club.
The Inferno will get two weeks off before their next race, which will be their final regular season meet, at the Wisconsin Private College Championships at the CUW Cross Country Course.
