MILWAUKEE, WI – Alverno College has appointed Brian Miller as the director of Athletics.  He will begin his duties on November 2nd.

Miller brings more than 30 years of collegiate coaching and athletics leadership experience to the college, including a nine-year stint as director of Athletics at Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE).

During his tenure at MSOE, Miller oversaw athletic department operations, developed the department's first strategic plan and led facility improvement projects, including the addition of baseball and softball stadiums and expanded locker room and office space. He also raised $175,000 to $300,000 annually for the athletic booster club and oversaw the hiring of coaching staff.

Miller's leadership helped MSOE achieve consistent top placements in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) All-Sports Award rankings. He also expanded opportunities for female student-athletes by introducing women's hockey, rowing, swim, wrestling and golf programs.

In addition to his administrative experience, Miller spent 18 years as head men's basketball coach at MSOE, where he developed the program into a consistent contender and became the winningest coach in MSOE history across all sports.
Miller previously served as director of Athletics and head men's basketball coach at Concordia University in River Forest, Illinois, where he oversaw department operations and served as president of the Northern Illinois Conference. Earlier in his career, he was head men's basketball coach and assistant athletic director at Lakeland College in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, where he led the basketball program to a conference championship title.

Most recently, Miller served as director of Recreational Services, Athletic Facilities and Club Sports at MSOE, managing athletic facilities, event operations, staffing and recreational programming.
Miller earned a Bachelor of Science in secondary education – Broadfield social science from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee, and a Master of Education from Lakeland College in Sheboygan, Wisconsin.
