HUNTLEY, Ill. – The Alverno golf team competed in its second match of the season Wednesday, heading to St. Andrew's Golf & Country Club for the Benedictine Fall Invitational. The team finished in 22
nd place, as they previewed the site of the 2025 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Championships.
Senior
Haley Marini (Friendship, Wis./Adams-Friendship) led the way for the Inferno on Wednesday, placing 116th with a score of 116 (+45), a new season best. Close behind Marini was junior
Michelle Hess (Aurora, Ill./Metea Valley) as she shot a 131 (+60) to place 121st.
Seniors
Jenna Kornwolf (Milwaukee, Wis./Greenfield) and
Katie Kornwolf (Milwaukee, Wis./Greenfield) shot 171 (+100) and 177 (+106), respectively, rounding out the competitors for the Inferno.
Aurora won the invite as a team, combining for a score of +25. The top golfer at the meet was Yinan Lu of Marian University, who shot a 74 (+3) on the day, scoring two birdies.
The Alverno Inferno golf team is next in action on Sept. 19 and 20 as they participate in the Midwest Region Classic, hosted at the Brighton Dale Golf Course in Kansasville, Wisconsin
