FOND DU LAC, Wis. - The Alverno Volleyball team lost to Marian on Thursday night in three straight sets by the scores of 25-13, 25-21, and 25-6.
The Sabres dominated the Inferno from the start, beginning the first match with a 5-0 run until Junior Rollin West executed the first kill of the game for the Inferno.
Rolin West led Alverno with 10 kills, followed by
Selena Upshur with 6 kills.
Izzy Gianniou,
Sharisty Kooch and
Dominique Tetrault all had 2 kills each.
After dropping the first set 13-25, the Inferno fought back in the second set. Regardless of never having the lead, Alverno managed to keep the match close. After falling behind 10-20, the Inferno rallied late to reduce the Sabres lead. Following an 11-3 Inferno scoring run, the Sabres saw their lead diminish to two points. Despite the Inferno's efforts, the Sabres were able to close out the Inferno with two straight kills to complete the set.
After losing a close match, the Inferno were hoping to bounce back in set number three. After tying the game early at two a piece, Alverno's offense went cold. The Inferno only recorded 3 kills the entire set and the Sabres went on to win the set easily with a score of 25-6.
Alverno will travel to Milwaukee on Friday to play their season finale against Mount Mary. The Inferno will look to end the season strong. First Serve is set for 6:30 p.m.
