MILWAUKEE – The Alverno Soccer team made its home debut on Sunday afternoon, kicking off the home season with its non-conference finale against crosstown foe Mount Mary on the Alverno Soccer Field. The Inferno and Blue Angels were unable to score as the two sides ended in a scoreless draw.

The two squads were evenly matched with Alverno registering 10 shots, with seven on frame; while Mount Mary had a dozen shots with six on target. The Inferno had three corner kicks to Mount Mary's one from the corner, while both sides were called for nine fouls aside.

In goal, freshman
Emily Anguiano posted her first career shutout as she made six saves in the effort without allowing a goal.

Amongst the Inferno, five field players tallied shots on the contest including a team-best three from junior
Georgia Wise and freshman
Madison Wise. Freshman
Monce Cervantes was credited with two shots, while senior
Ziri Hernandez-Bustos and freshman
Haley Youngblood had one shot apiece.

Alverno (0-2-1) will open up Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference play on Wednesday, September 14, when the team will host Rockford for the league opener with kickoff slated for 4 p.m. on the Alverno Soccer Field.
