MILWAUKEE -- Jackie Vanderkolk netted her fifth career hat trick as host Alverno College rolled Lakeland University, 6-0, in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference opener Friday evening at Alverno Field.

The senior forward opened the offensive barrage in the 16th minute as she beat her defender for a clear shot at the goal. Her second score, the Inferno's fourth, came in the 61st as she broke free from the Muskies' back line for a breakaway goal. Vanderkolk then capped off the scoring in the 71st as she rebounded her own shot for the putback and her second hat trick of the season.

Andrea Binkley was set up by Vanderkolk for the second goal in the 35th minute while Rikki Nelson laced a pass to Samantha Devcich for the third goal minutes before the half.

Defender Erin Rothwell bombed in a free kick from about five yards inside the midline less than a minute before the final score that bounced in the box and over the Lakeland (1-5, 0-1 NACC) goalkeeper. For the Inferno's fifth goal.

Sophomore goalkeeper Allison Weick registered her first-career shutout as she kept the Muskies at bay with four saves.

Alverno (4-1, 1-0) takes Saturday off before returning to Alverno Field for a nonconference tilt with visiting MacMurray College Sunday at 11 a.m.
