Milwaukee, WI - The Alverno Soccer team hosted Lakeland University on Wednesday, earlier in the season Lakeland had defeated the Inferno and scored ten goals in the match. Alverno showed great toughness and tenacity in the second match up, holding the Muskies scoreless in the second half. Lakeland scored five goals in the first for what would be the winning margin, however the Inferno refused to give up, defended effectively throughout the match and had some scoring chances of their own.
In addition to not allowing a Muskie goal in the second,
Julia Hamilton (Racine, WI)
Rica Joy Oliveros (Ewa Beach, HA) and
Natasha Perez (Milwaukee, WI) each made strong runs through the Lakeland defense and nearly found goals for Alverno.
Lakeland would attempt 40 shots in the match, and
Hannah Wester (Clintonville, WI) had a strong day in goal for Alverno, recording 17 saves.
Alverno will play their final match of the 2026 season on Saturday, October 31st at home against Rockford University. The match is scheduled to begin at 11 AM. Prior to the match, the Inferno soccer program will celebrate Senior day, as
Natasha Perez will be recognized for her contributions to the program in a pre-game ceremony.
