MILWAUKEE -- Crown College of Minnesota topped Alverno College 5-0 in the season opener for both teams, and the opening game of the Mount Mary University Invitational Friday evening.

The Storm (1-0) attacked early and went ahead 2-0 with scores in the ninth and 11th minutes for the only goals of the first half.

The Inferno (0-1) put three shots on frame in the half, but were unable to find the back of the net.

The second period didn't fare much better for Alverno, despite more than twice as many shots, as Crown added three more tallies in the half.

Annie Davison led the Inferno with three shots, including two on goal, while Dah Dah Poe and Sydney Wisner had two apiece.

Katelyn Bartlett recorded eight saves in nearly 80 minutes at goal.

Alverno returns to Mount Mary field for its final game at the kick-off tournament tomorrow at 1 p.m. versus Eureka College.
