GALESBURG, Ill. -- Host Knox College blanked Alverno College 9-0 in a nonconference game at Prats Field Sunday afternoon.

The Prairie Fire improved to 8-1-1 on the season, while the loss dropped the Inferno to 1-6.

An early goal by Val Varanese in the game's fifth minute was the go-ahead score, and three more goals by the hosts gave them a comfortable 4-0 lead at halftime.

Sydney Wisner fired off the only shot on goal for Alverno, while Knox had 25 on frame.

Katelyn Bartlett tallied 16 saves at goal, her fourth straight game of at least 14, and just three off her career high.

The Inferno continues road play with a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference contest at Edgewood College Wednesday evening.
