Second Half Surge Lifts Hawks Over Inferno

MILWAUKEE -- Visiting Illinois Institute of Technology scored four second half goals for a 4-0 nonconference victory over host Alverno College Wednesday evening.

Both defenses had strong first-half showings, as neither offense found the back of the net for a 0-0 tie at intermission.

The Scarlet Hawks (5-3-0) broke the scoreless draw in the 53rd minute as Anida Phetchanpheng chipped in a shot from five yards out in the middle on a breakaway pass.

The visitors would add three more scores over the next 20 minutes, while the Inferno (0-6-1) mustered just one shot on goal.

The Inferno's lone chance came in the 81st minute as Hayley Serketich's attempt was stopped by the Hawks' goalkeeper.

Kaitlyn Gallinatti recorded 10 saves at goal for Alverno.

Alverno continues its four-game homestand versus Concordia University Wisconsin on Saturday. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. at Alverno Field.
