Britons Hand Inferno Another Tough Loss

ALBION, Mich. -- Alverno College suffered a tough 9-0 loss for the second-straight day as the Inferno fell to host Albion College on Saturday afternoon.

The game was scoreless for the first 15 minutes before the Britons (2-0) scored a pair of goals in the 16th and 18th minutes. The hosts piled on four more goals in the first half, for a 6-0 lead at intermission. Three additional Briton goals in the second half completed the tally.

The Inferno (0-2) had its chances to avoid the shutout as two of the visitors' four shots were on frame, all of which came off the foot of sophomore Jackie Vanderkolk.

Jenna Reed recorded nine saves at the net, while the Britons' Cameron Schmidt recorded a pair.

Alverno has over a week to regroup before its next contest, the team's home opener on Sunday, September 7, versus Ripon College. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. at Alverno Field.
