MILWAUKEE -- Alverno College snapped its nine-game winless streak in convincing fashion with a 9-1 victory over visiting Mount Mary University Saturday afternoon at Alverno Field.

The first win of 2014 for the Inferno (1-8-1) came in the team's Homecoming and Hall of Fame game versus its crosstown foe, which it has now won 17 in a row against.

Jackie Vanderkolk netted the first two goals of the game, both unassisted, in the 8th and 16th minutes to kick off the Inferno scoring.

Sydney Wisner scored her first of the season in the 26th minute, while just over 10 minutes later Hayley Serketich found the back of the net for her second tally of 2014.

Vanderkolk repeated her first-half performance with the first two goals of the second half for her first career hat trick with the Inferno to make it 6-0.

The Blue Angels (2-7-1) ended Kaitlyn Gallinatti's shutout bid in the 66th minute as Emily Ristow put Mount Mary on the board. Gallinatti had one save in all 90 minutes at goal for the Inferno, while the Angels' Marissa Rechlicz recorded 16 saves.

Yessy Lopez scored two-straight goals just 60 seconds apart in the 67th and 68th minutes, while Annie Davison finished off the scoring in the 78th minute on a pass from Andrea Diaz who collected four assists on the day.

Alverno returns to action on Wednesday at Milwaukee School of Engineering. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. downtown.
