Box Score MILWAUKEE -- Four different Inferno players scored as Alverno College won its final home game of the season, 4-2, over visiting Benedictine University Tuesday afternoon at Alverno Field.
Hayley Serketich scored the game's first goal in the 17th minute as she rocketed a ball past a pair of defenders and the Eagles' goalkeeper from the top of the box.
Benedictine (4-14-1, 2-8 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference) evened the score with just over seven minutes remaining in the first half as Allison Lambert served up a corner kick to Danielle Melotte who headed the ball to the back of the net.
Alverno (4-13-1, 2-8 NACC) retook the lead shortly into second-half play on a corner kick of its own. Andrea Diaz bended one in directly from the left corner, as no Eagle or Inferno players touched the ball, for her first goal of the season.
One minute later Jackie Vanderkolk fired a shot from 20 yards out on the left side past the goalie to increase the Inferno's lead, 3-1.
Taylor Pokorny pulled the Eagles within one, finishing Melotte's pass from a free kick in the 74th minute, but the Inferno would hold on for the win, including Annie Davison's insurance goal in the 89th minute, assisted by Serketich.
Kaitlyn Gallinatti recorded nine saves at goal for the Inferno, while Amanda Lozada had four for the Eagles.
Alverno concludes the season on Thursday in a nonconference game at Mount Mary University. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m.
