Box Score FOND DU LAC, Wis. -- Alverno College played a scoreless 51 minutes with Marian University, but the host Sabres scored four second half goals for the 4-0 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference victory over the Inferno Wednesday evening at Smith Field.
Brittany Syms scored the go-ahead goal 51 minutes, 12 seconds in to the contest to end the scoreless tie.
The Inferno (3-12-1, 1-7 NACC) fired off five shots in the opening half, but the Sabres (8-7, 5-3) controlled ball possession in the final period and limited Alverno to a single shot in the second half.
Jackie Vanderkolk led Alverno with four shots, including three on frame, and Hayley Serketich had one of her two shots saved by the Sabres' goalkeeper.
Kaitlyn Gallinatti recorded a career-high 19 saves for the Inferno in all 90 minutes at goal.
Alverno continues its current road trip at Dominican University on Saturday. Kickoff is at 12 p.m. in River Forest, Ill.
