Box Score MILWUAKEE -- Both sides of the ball showed strong performances as Alverno College shut out Robert Morris University-Lake County, 10-0, Sunday afternoon at Alverno Field.
The host Inferno (3-11-1) earned its first shutout of the season and scored double-digits for the first time since 2013's season finale, allowing the visiting Eagles (0-3-0) to get off just two shots in 90 minutes of play.
Alverno fired off 60 shots in the contest, and broke the former school record of 48 set last year versus Mount Mary University.
Jackie Vanderkolk scored the opening goal just over eight minutes into the game from Hayley Serketich's corner-kick pass.
Vanderkolk ended the day with five goals to tie the single-game school record, which has been done on three other occasions in the 2008, 2010 and 2011 seasons.
Serketich scored the Inferno's third goal of the game in the 12th minute, but also assisted on five others. The five assists tied the school record set by Nava Moniriarani versus Concordia University Chicago on October 25, 2010.
Four other Inferno players would tally goals in the contest including Amber Thomas (16'), Erica Isaacson (47'), Alex Bonikowske (70') and Brittany Carpenter (82').
Sydney Wisner added two assists, while Andrea Diaz, Emily Ogas and Becca Schnell each had one.
Jenna Reed had a save and earned her first-career shutout in all 90 at goal for the Inferno. Reed's counterpart, Cassandra Palcorny, recorded 21 saves for the Eagles.
The Inferno hits the road for three of its final four games, including Wednesday's contest at Marian University. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. up in Fond du Lac.
