Box Score 2 MILWAUKEE -- Visiting Alverno College dropped both games of a doubleheader to host Wisconsin Lutheran College, 8-0 and 10-3, Sunday afternoon.
The Inferno (12-12, 4-10 Northern Athletics Conference) managed just three hits in game one, as Jamie Villalobos was 2-for-2 in the leadoff spot and Lauren Colette added a single in the fifth inning.
As a result of the Inferno's anemic offense, Stef Wilmore's school-record 20-game hit streak was halted, as was Megan Rossi's 20-game reached base streak. Wilmore's impressive streak was just three shy of the NAC record of 23 set in 2007.
Meanwhile the host Warriors (11-11, 5-7) had 10 hits and paired them with three Alverno errors for the eight scores.
Just four of the runs were earned as Erin Dulek (2-2) was tabbed with the loss in 4.1 innings pitched.
In the nightcap, it took just one inning for Alverno to match its hit total from game one. In the top of the first, Colette and Ashleigh Sagat doubled, while Emily Ortner also reached on a base hit. Colette scored on a sacrifice fly by Wilmore, and Sagat's double plated Ortner for the Inferno's first lead of the day.
However, Alverno's lead was short lived as a pair of fielding errors in the bottom half of the inning allowed three Warrior runs to score.
Ortner collected her second of three hits in the third, followed by a Wilmore double and Sagat knocked home Ortner to tie the game at 3-3.
Yet again, the Warriors answered in the bottom of the inning as they scored four runs on a pair of hits and a pair of errors for the 7-3 lead.
Alverno had just two more hits the remainder of the game, while Wisconsin Lutheran added three more runs in the sixth where the Inferno committed its fifth error of the game.
Villalobos (6-7) struck out six batters, but was tagged with the loss, although just three of the 10 runs she surrendered were earned.
Kendra Thomas (7-7) was credited with both wins on the day as she pitched every inning for the Warriors with 14 total strikeouts.
Alverno will play its third doubleheader in three days at Aurora University tomorrow. First pitch is at 3 p.m.
