MILWAUKEE -- Visiting Benedictine University scored a goal in the 28th minute to break a scoreless tie and held on to defeat host Alverno College, 2-0, this afternoon at Alverno Field.

The Eagles (3-2, 2-0 Northern Athletics Conference) added a goal in the 59th minute as the Inferno (2-2, 0-2 NAC) was outshot 17-7 in the game.

Brittany Carpenter (Winneconne, Wis./Neenah) and Katherine Pook (Cedarburg, Wis.) fired off two shots apiece for the Inferno, while goalkeeper Samantha Robinson (Pleasant Prairie, Wis./Tremper) recorded five saves in the loss.

Alverno is next in action on Saturday at Maranatha Baptist. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. in Watertown.
