MILWAUKEE -- The Inferno allowed three second-half goals and were unable to capitalize on a solid first half, dropping their first Northern Athletics Conference contest of the season to Lakeland, 3-0.

Alverno (1-2, 0-1 NAC) outshot the visiting Muskies 5-4 in the opening period, including 3-2 on goal, but were unable to convert any of the attempts. The Inferno also had the first-half advantage on corner kicks, 4-2.

In the second period the Muskies (1-2, 1-0) came out firing and connected on three of their 10 shots, scoring in the 47th, 62nd and 80th minutes. The Inferno managed only one shot in the final period and no corner kicks.

Nava Moniriarani (Oak Creek, Wis.) led the Inferno offense with three shots, two on goal, while Rachel Krueger (Port Washington, Wis.) added two shots, one on goal.

Alverno hosts Beloit College in a nonconference game on Thursday, with kickoff set for 4:30 p.m.
