Box Score

LISLE, Ill. -- Alverno lost a Northern Athletics Conference game to host Benedictine, 2-0, tonight in Lisle, Ill.

The Inferno (1-5, 0-2 NAC) were outshot 17-1 in the first half, but still hung on to a scoreless tie at the intermission, as sophomore goalkeeper Samantha Robinson (Pleasant Prairie, Wis./Tremper) and the Inferno defense stopped the Eagles' attack by tallying seven saves in the period.

The host Eagles (3-2, 1-1) only outshot the Inferno 9-3 in the second half, but connected on two of their attempts in the 55th and 56th minutes for the victory.

"We had great defensive organization and created some good chances late in the game," Alverno head coach Brittany Nikolic said. "We battled hard, especially without some of our key players, and some others playing injured."

Robinson finished the game with 10 saves, while the Inferno's offensive attack was led by Nava Moniriarani (Oak Creek, Wis.) who had a pair of shots, both on goal.

Alverno returns home for its next contest this Saturday, hosting Maranatha Baptist at noon.
