Inferno blanked in NAC opener

MILWAUKEE -- Alverno College was shut out, 9-0, in its Northern Athletics Conference opener against Concordia University Wisconsin this afternoon at Alverno Field.

The visiting Falcons (2-1, 1-0 NAC) outshot the host Inferno 37-5, including 26-1 on goal.

Freshmen Nava Moniriarani (Oak Creek, Wis.) and Kelly Rooney (New Berlin, Wis./West) each had a team-high two shots for the Inferno, while sophomore Kelsey Kochanowski (Oak Creek, Wis.) had the remaining shot, which was on goal.

Freshmen goalkeepers Samantha Robinson (Pleasant Prairie, Wis./Tremper) and Jackie Clore (Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley) split time at goal for Alverno. Robinson (1-2), who picked up the decision, recorded a career-high nine saves, but allowed four goals. Clore also had a career-high in saves with eight, but allowed five goals.

Alverno (2-2, 0-1 NAC) will look to snap its two-game skid at Robert Morris University-Lake County this Wednesday at 5 p.m., in a nonconference game.
