ROCKFORD, Ill. -- The Alverno College women's soccer team scored two second half goals, but came up short in a 3-2 Northern Athletics Conference loss to host Rockford College this afternoon.

The Inferno (2-10, 0-7 NAC) tallied 11 shots on goal compared to the Regent's (2-9, 1-6 NAC) 5, but only found the back of the net twice in the muddy playing conditions.

Trailing only 1-0 at the break, the Inferno then gave up two more consecutive goals to trail 3-0 with just over 30 minutes to play. Ellie LaFond (Waukesha, Wis.) responded scoring a pair of goals less than seven minutes apart to cut the lead to 3-2, but the Inferno could not muster up a game-tying score in the final minutes.

The Inferno are next in action on Thursday, Oct. 9 at Beloit College for a non-conference contest. Game time is set for 4 p.m.
