Alverno Folds to Falcons

MILWAUKEE -- The Alverno College women's soccer team dropped its Northern Athletics Conference contest to Concordia University Wisconsin, 9-0, in its final home game of the season on Saturday, Oct. 25, in Milwaukee, Wis.

Saturday's game also marked the annual Senior Day celebration for the Inferno, as defenders Reese Reger (Superior, Wis.), Sarah Rodell (Oconomowoc, Wis.), Jess Kramer (Kenosha, Wis./Indian Trail) and midfielder Juliane Finn (Milwaukee, Thomas More) were all recognized for their efforts throughout their collegiate soccer careers.

The Inferno (3-15, 0-11 NAC) were out-shot by Concordia, 26-1, for the game, as sophomore forward Ellie LaFond (Waukesha, Wis.) notched the only shot of the game for Alverno. Junior goalkeeper Joslyn Binkowski (Greenfield, Wis.) survived a busy day between the posts, snagging 16 saves in 90 minutes of play.

Alverno trailed just 3-0 at the half, but the Falcons (11-5, 9-2 NAC) continued their offensive assault into the second half to bang in six more goals. Falcon sophomore Emily Waldorf finished the game with four of her team's goals.

The Inferno will close out its 2008 soccer campaign with its final NAC contest at Dominican University on Tuesday, Oct. 28. Game time is set for 3 p.m. in River Forest, Ill.
