Inferno Shut Out by Aurora

Box Score

AURORA, Ill. -- Short-handed to start the game, the Alverno soccer team couldn't find its step on a rainy Wednesday, Oct. 15, as they fell 9-0 to the Aurora Spartans, who move to first place in the NAC after their home-game win.  Alverno falls to 0-9 in conference play.

"Our play was really affected by the fact that we were short players for the majority of the game," says head coach Angela Zuniga-Meyer.  "Aurora also had a tremendous passing game, so those factors combined really changed the pace of the game.  Aurora had a four-point lead at the half, which slowly grew into nine points throughout the second half."

Joslyn Binkowski spent all 90 minutes at goal, saving 16 of 25 shots on goal.  Alverno, however, did not manage to get a single shot on goal.

The Alverno College soccer team next travels to Madison, Wis., to face Edgewood College, who has not lost on their home field.  Game time is 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 18.
