Milwaukee,WI- It was a historic day Wednesday on the soccer field for the Alverno College side. With a 2-0 shutout win over Andrews University, the Inferno claimed their first soccer victory since September 8, 2021. It was also head coach
Sendi Jimenez Garcia's first victory as the leader of Alverno Soccer.
Alverno controlled the play with aggressive offense and strong defense throughout the match.
Julia Hamilton (Racine,WI) continued her outstanding season, providing both goals on the day. She scored goals in the 36th and 70th minute, giving the Inferno all the offense they would need on the day.
Hannah Wester (Clintonville,WI) collected the clean sheet in net, saving five Andrews chances.
The Inferno pushed the tempo throughout the entire match, out shooting Andrews 21-9, Alverno put 16 shots on goal to just 5 for Andrews. The exciting win was tangible evidence of the growth and progress the Alverno team is showing on a match to match basis and a sign of a promising bright future ahead for the program.
Alverno will be back in action, at home for a second straight match on Saturday, September 26th, when they host the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.
