Milwaukee, WI-  Seeking their first win of the 2026 season, the Alverno College soccer team traveled across Milwaukee on Saturday to take on the Blue Angels of Mount Mary University.  

The Inferno played a tight game against their cross-town foe and NAIA member.  The match was tied at half, but ultimately Alverno would fall to Mount Mary by a final score of 3-0.

The first big play of the match occurred in the 8th minute when Inferno goalkeeper Priya Jackson (Waipahu, Hawaii) saved a penalty kick to keep Mount Mary off of the scoreboard.  
Both teams had scoring chances in the first half.  However, neither side found the back of the net.  Mount Mary would grab the match's first goal in the 49th minute.  

Trailing by a single goal, Alverno continued to pressure, with Hannah Wester (Clintonville, WI) and Jas Sanchez (Greenfield, WI) providing second half shots.  
Unfortunately for the Inferno, Mount Mary would add a second goal in the 69th minute to extend the margin to 2-0.

The Blue Angels would add a final goal in minute 84, to take the 3-0 lead that would be the final score of the match.

Mount Mary outshot Alverno by a margin of 14-7.  For the Alverno offense, Julia Hamilton (Racine, WI) and RM Javar (Pearl City, Hawaii) each recorded two shots.  

Saturday's game was the 4th consecutive road match for Alverno.  Their next match will be their first at home for the 2026 season.  That match will occur on Tuesday, September 15th at 4 pm, when Alverno hosts the Sabercats of Maranatha Baptist University.  The match will also be a special celebration of Hispanic Heritage by the Inferno Soccer program.
