SCOUTING THE OPPONENT:
Concordia University Wisconsin Falcons – 2026 Record: 19-13, 10-6 NACC | 2025 Record: 32-13, 19-5 NACC
Last year's NACC Tournament Champions find themselves in a similar position as last season, sitting near the top of the conference as the end of the season nears. The Falcons won last year's tournament over Benedictine and went on to lose twice to Wisconsin-Oshkosh in the NCAA Tournament, with a win over Central (Iowa) sandwiched in between.
This year, despite a relatively pedestrian offense, the team has found success with good pitching and timely hitting. The team ranks 12
th out of 13 in the NACC in batting average and on-base, but is in the top half of the league in most extra-base hit categories, as they used big hits to get them wins this season.
Three big bats lead the way for the Falcons, as Jenna Shadoski is hitting .409 with nine doubles, four triples, and a homer as the top CUW hitter this year. She is supplemented by Rylie DuVal and Maggie Plahmer, who each have over 10 extra base hits and are hitting over .320 on the season.
The pitching has been a strength of the Falcons this year, as they rank fourth in the NACC in ERA, with Faith Keiper leading the way for CUW with her 2.39 ERA in 73.1 innings of work. Emma Shellstrom has been a workhorse and carries a 3.79 ERA in 81.1 innings pitched, also tossing eight complete games. Kylie Strup has mostly appeared in relief and has a 3.87 ERA in 47 innings pitched to round out the main contributors of the Falcon pitching staff.
Dominican University Stars – 2026 Record: 21-13, 15-5 NACC | 2025 Record: 31-12, 19-5 NACC
The Stars lead the NACC going into the weekend with their 15-5 record in conference action and will take on St. Norbert before hosting Alverno on Sunday. After getting swept by Concordia Wisconsin to open conference play, they won nine straight games before a split with Aurora ended the streak. They also split with Marian last weekend and split with Lakeland this past Thursday as their only other conference losses of the campaign.
Dominican boasts the best pitching staff in the conference, as they have 10 shutouts and a 2.97 ERA in 217 innings. They are also hitting .329 as a team, good for fourth amongst their league foes, posting some of the better offensive numbers in the NACC.
The team is led by one of the best pitchers in the country, as Hannah Richards 1.28 ERA ranks 27
th nationally, allowing just 15 earned runs this year in 82 innings pitched. She is 11-4 and has struck out 42 batters with six complete games and four total shutouts. Liberty Rivard and Rhiannon Rubio have been strong supplementary acts to Richards, with Rivard carrying a 3.02 ERA and Rubio posting a 3.89 ERA, as both have over 60 innings pitched.
Offensively, Ryley Davis has been an excellent bat this year for the Stars, as she is hitting .480, fifth in the conference, and has driven in 32 runs. Isabella Olmos has been excellent as well, hitting .418 with 11 extra-base hits and a team-best 51 hits. Four more hitters are hitting over .300 for Dominican, including Paytin Salfi, who leads the team with nine doubles and three homers on the season.
LAST TIME OUT FOR THE INFERNO:
The Alverno College softball team traveled to take on Benedictine University in Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) play on Tuesday evening. The Inferno fell in both ends of the doubleheader, dropping game one 12-4 before an 11-1 loss in game two.
Giselle Moreno (Chicago, Ill./Lane Tech) led the offense, driving in three runs and collecting three hits and two doubles on the day, while senior
Emily Anguiano (South El Monte, Calif./San Gabriel Mission) had two hits and an RBI. Juniors
Alyssa Hubli (Kenosha, Wis./St. Joseph Catholic Academy) and
Jaycee Reyes (Tucson, Ariz./Ironwood Ridge) each had a hit in each game, with Hubli collecting a double and scoring a run.
INFERNO TO WATCH:
Anguiano has hits in six of her last seven games and has a four-game hit streak heading into the weekend. This season, she is hitting .314 overall and .361 in conference games, leading the team with 10 runs scored in league action and tying for the team lead with four walks.
BY THE NUMBERS:
In conference play, Alverno ranks second in the NACC with 11 homers. Moreno and
Nadya Hudson (Milwaukee, Wis./Wauwatosa East) each have four, while Hubli has two and Anguiano has one.

th, before wrapping their season with games at Wisconsin Lutheran on Saturday, May 2
