OPPONENT HISTORY:
Lakeland leads the all-time series 34-10.
The Inferno are currently on a four-game losing streak against the Muskies, with the team's last victory over Lakeland on April 12, 2023. In that game, Izzy Torres and Andrea Ramirez each drove in three runs and homered. Current seniors Anguiano, Eschbach, and Moreno all started and contributed to the win, combining for three hits, two runs, and two RBI.

Concordia Chicago leads the all-time series 30-12
The Cougars have won nine straight against the Inferno, who last defeated Concordia Chicago on April 26, 2019. A four-run first inning led Alverno to the win, with Carina Jimenez recording three hits and pitcher Lauren Greif going seven strong innings, allowing just two earned runs.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT:
Lakeland University Muskies – 2026 Record: 13-10-1, 5-3 NACC | 2025 Record: 20-22, 13-11 NACC
The Muskies are enjoying a solid season thus far, with conference sweeps over Wisconsin Lutheran and Concordia Chicago highlighting their early-season triumphs. They also split a doubleheader with MSOE, while dropping two close games with Concordia Wisconsin.

While the offense for Lakeland has been solid, their pitching has led them throughout the season, as the best in the NACC's second-best team ERA at 3.00. All three qualifying arms for the Muskies have a sub-three ERA to form a formidable staff. Natalie Ziebell leads the team in most major categories, accumulating 57.2 innings and 26 strikeouts for a 2.55 ERA. Lily Pettit forms the other half of their starting duo and has a 2.98 ERA in 49.1 innings pitched, while reliever Jacie Jones has a 2.01 ERA in 10 appearances, including two saves. All three rank in the top ten in the conference in ERA, with Jones ranking third, Ziebell seventh, and Pettit 10th.

Offensively, the team does lack some power, ranking last in the conference in home runs and second to last in doubles, but has a .311 batting average that ranks 10th. The offense has seven starters hitting over. 300 with Maddie Raske leading the team with a .368 batting average. Abby Heitman leads the team with an OPS of .863, with two doubles, two triples, and one of the two homers hit by the team.

Concordia University Chicago Cougars – 2026 Record: 9-17, 4-10 NACC | 2025 Record: 23-17-1, 16-8 NACC
The Cougars are looking to get back on track this weekend, playing two teams that are close by in the standings, Edgewood and Alverno. After a strong 2025 season, they have already lost more NACC games and have equaled their total loss total from last season with just under half the season to go.

Offensively, the team has one of the best bats in the NACC in Arissa Santos, who enters the weekend with a conference-leading .508 batting average with a 1.254 OPS. She also leads the NACC with 11 doubles and has driven in 10 runs. Melisa Hadzic has been a strong bat as well for the Cougars, hitting .357 with two homers and a team-best 19 RBI.

Pitching-wise, the team is looking for some consistency, with six different pitchers starting in the circle this year. Alyssa Lopez leads the team with a 4.43 ERA and 18 appearances, totaling 36.1 innings pitched. Eden Pufahl leads the team with three wins and holds a 4.56 ERA with one complete game and one save.

The Cougars rank fifth in the conference in batting average and lead the league with 60 doubles. However, they hold the conference's fourth-worst ERA at 5.37 in 173.1 innings pitched.

LAST TIME OUT FOR THE INFERNO:
The Alverno College softball team continued Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) play on Saturday, April 11th, hosting St. Norbert College at Alverno Softball Field. The Inferno fell in both ends of the doubleheader, dropping game one 15-5 and game two 18-7.

Alverno showed offensive flashes across the two games, combining for 12 runs and 16 hits on the day, including multiple home runs and a late-game rally in the second contest. Junior Jaycee Reyes (Tucson, Ariz./Ironwood Ridge) had three hits over the doubleheader to lead the offensive effort for the Inferno, including a double in game two. Junior Alyssa Hubli (Kenosha, Wis./St. Joseph Catholic Academy), sophomore Nadya Hudson (Milwaukee, Wis./Wauwatosa East), and senior Giselle Moreno (Chicago, Ill./Lane Tech) all had two hits across the day and homered for Alverno.

INFERNO TO WATCH:
Keep an eye out for the Inferno seniors this weekend, who are all enjoying solid seasons at their respective positions.

Eschbach is third on the team with a. 340 batting average and has driven in nine runs while compiling 19 hits.

Anguiano is next on the team in batting average, with a .321 mark to go along with five doubles and a homer, as well as 15 runs scored.

Moreno has bumped her overall average up to .309 after a slow start, hitting .381 in conference action and homering three times. For her career, she is tied for second all-time with Alverno Athletics Hall of Famer Stef Wimore, at 18.

Peabody is having a career season thus far, hitting .250 and posting a .364 on-base percentage in 15 games played. She has driven in five runs and scored three times this season.

BY THE NUMBERS:
Alverno has been caught stealing just once this year through 20 games, going 22-23. The team has picked their spots well throughout the season, as Aurora is the only team in the NACC with a success percentage near Alverno's, as they are 37-39 on the year.

UP NEXT:
The Inferno head on the road to Benedictine on Tuesday, April 21st, for a 3 p.m. doubleheader and then host Concordia Wisconsin on Saturday, April 25, before heading to Dominican on Sunday, April 26.
