MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The Alverno College softball team returns to Wisconsin from Florida on Saturday, March 21, and opens Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) play against Marian at MATC Field.
OPPONENT HISTORY:
Marian leads the all-time series 38-8.
The Sabres have won 16 straight games against the Inferno, with Alverno's last win coming on April 17, 2017, when they won 3-1.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT:

The Sabres are returning to action for the first time since March 6 when they wrapped up their Florida trip in Winter Haven, Florida, where they finished with a 3-7 record. The team picked up wins against Neumann, Adrian, and WIT playing in the first week of THE Spring Games.
Offensively, the team has been led so far by Carissa Heisdorf, who is hitting .367 through ten games with a home run, three doubles and a team-best seven RBI. She also has a .441 on-base percentage and a 1.008 OPS through the team's opening portion of the season. Aubrey Bender is hitting .357 for Marian in 10 games, adding a double and triple. Hope Matta started in seven games and hit. 421 (8-19) for the Sabres.
Savanna Knuth has been the best arm for Marian thus far, registering a 3.25 ERA through five starts, adding a complete game and totaling 23.2 innings pitched. McKenna Repovich leads the team with two wins in the circle, recording a 4.77 ERA in 14.2 innings.
LAST TIME OUT FOR THE INFERNO:
The Inferno lost in two closely played games to wrap up their Florida trip. Keuka College narrowly won the first game 3-2, before the University of Maine-Farmington staved off a late Inferno push to win 9-7.
Sophomores
Nadya Hudson (Milwaukee, Wis./Wauwatosa East) and
Gianna Medrano (Tucson, Ariz./Ironwood Ridge) led the offensive effort for Alverno, with Hudson going a combined 5-7 with three doubles, two runs scored, and two runs batted in over two games. Medrano was 4-4 in game two, scoring two runs, while also recording a hit, an RBI, and a walk in game one.
INFERNO TO WATCH:
Medrano is leading the Inferno with a .536 batting average through 10 games, going 15-28 on the team's Florida trip, as she has had an excellent start to her career at the NCAA level. She has also driven in a team-best six runs, while also walking a team-high six times for a .606 on-base percentage.
