Waverly, IA- The Alverno Volleyball team continued their recent trend of taking on tough competition when they headed to Waverly, Iowa on Saturday. They would play two matches at Wartburg College, a neutral site match against UW-LaCrosse, and a match against the hosts, Wartburg College.
Victory did not come the Inferno's way unfortunately, as they dropped both matches. In the day's first match against LaCrosse,
Mary Needham (San Tan Valley, AZ) recorded eight kills and two blocks.
Beyonca Hereford (Beloit, WI) recorded 11 assists and
Carley Juneau (Milwaukee, WI) had a season high 12 digs. The scores of the sets against UWL were 25-11, 25-17 and 25-19.
Playing the hosts of Wartburg College, Alverno was unable to turn the tables in the day's second match. Alverno fell by scores of 25-10, 25-14, 25-17.
Needham again led Alverno in kills with 8, Juneau again paced the Inferno with 11 digs, and
Sofia Mitchell (Denver, CO) provided three blocks.
The Inferno will once again leave the state of Wisconsin for their next match. On Tuesday, October 6th, they will play at road match against the Regents of Rockford University, beginning at 7 pm.
