Watertown, WI- Coming off of a weekend in which they played some of their strongest volleyball of the season, the Alverno team headed to Maranatha Baptist University for a road match. The Inferno had defeated MBU on September 15th in a competitive four set match.
Alverno made sure there would be no such drama on Tuesday night, cruising to a sweep by scores of 25-12, 25-17, and 25-13. The Inferno have now won two of their last three matches and definitely seem to be peaking at the right time of the season.
Sofia Mitchell (Denver, CO) had 11 kills and 3 blocks, while
Mary Needham (San Tan Valley, AZ) tabulated nine kills and three blocks of her own.
Carley Juneau (Milwaukee,WI) recorded 20 assists and seven digs.
Gwen Kalafut (Columbus, WI) would lead the Inferno with 10 digs.
The service game was a large factor in the match also, with Alverno recording 12 aces to just four for Maranatha.
With their 4th victory of the season, Alverno has exceeded last year's win total, and already clinched the winningest season since 2022.
Alverno will look to make it three out of four when they host Kuyper College on Saturday, October 17th. That match at Reiman Gymnasium is scheduled to begin at 2 pm.
