THE LEADĀ ā€“ Alverno concluded the four day of the 2025 Gene Cusic Classic with a pair of setbacks at the hands of Crown College and St. Joseph's University Brooklyn. Crown cruised past the Inferno, 2-11, before the Bears pulled away 10-0 in the second game in the nightcap.

HOW IT HAPPENED (GM 1 vs. Crown)
  • Alverno opened the contest with plating one run to take an early 1-0 when Giselle Moreno doubled to right field to score Alyssa Hubli.
  • Crown answered in the bottom of the second inning with adding one run to tie the game 1-all
  • Alverno plated its final run in the third inning when Moreno singled to right field scoring Alexis Wheeler to take a 2-1 advantage over Crown.
  • Crown exploded for 10 runs in the fourth inning to build a commanding 11-2 lead to take the victory
  • Alverno was led byĀ Giselle MorenoĀ who was perfect at the plate going 2-for-2 with two RBI's
  • Alverno had seven total players to record hits
  • One the mound for the Red and White to start things off was Hailie Eschbach who pitched three innings only allowing eight runs, 10 hits andĀ  one strikeout in the 26 batters faced.
  • Bailey Gardner finished on the diamond only allowing two hits and one run in the four batters faced.

HOW IT HAPPENED (GM 2 vs. St. Joseph's University Brooklyn)
  • St. Joseph's opened the contest with plating four runs to take an early 4-0 lead
  • St. Joseph's added an additional two runs in the second inning to take a 6-0 lead
  • St. Joseph's added its final runs of the contest in the fifth inning to take the 10-0 victory
  • Alverno was led by Alexis Wheeler who was perfect at the plate 2-for-2
  • Alverno finished the contest with three hits

UP NEXT
  • Alverno return to action tomorrow morning (March 19) for a 9:00 AM tilt vs. St. Joseph's University Brooklyn followed by an 1:00 PM battle vs. St. Thomas University to close out the 2025 Gene Cusic Classic at North Collier Regional Park
