Softball Drops a Pair on Day Two of the Gene Cusic Classic

NAPLES, Fla. – After racking up 15 runs over the past two games, the Alverno College Softball team was held to scoreless to Geneva College and plated six runs in the loss to Lesley University.
 
Geneva College won game one, 11-0, then Lesley blanked Alverno in the nightcap, 6-10.
 
The Golden Tornadoes of Geneva College took the early lead in the bottom of the first inning adding seven runs. Geneva answered in the bottom of the third inning plating four runs. Alverno was held scoreless the remaining innings of the contest.

On the mound for the Red and White was Bailey Gardner who pitched four innings only allowing 13 hits, 11 runs and three strikeouts in the 31 batters faced.
 
 
In the nightcap, Lesley was able to get on the board first with adding three runs. Alverno answered in the bottom of the first inning when Emily Anguiano singled to center field to score Giselle Moreno and Alyssa Hubli.
 
Lesley then added three additional runs in the top of the second inning to grow its lead6-2. The Inferno responded in the bottom of the inning when Eva Tromm singled score Halie Eschbach to cut the lead 6-3.
The Lynx bats continued to be hot plating four runs in the top of the third inning to advance the score 10-3. Alverno continued to fight and added its final three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning but that wasn't enough as Lesley got the 10-6 victory.  


Dominique Tetrault started on the mound for Alverno in the nightcap pitching two innings only allowing seven hits, six runs and two strikeouts in the 17 batters faced. Bailey Gardner closed things out, pitching four innings only allowing two hits, four runs and one strikeout in the 20 batters faced.
