WEST CHICAGO, Ill. – The Alverno golf team competed in the three-day Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) Championships, posting a ninth-place finish at St. Andrew's Golf & Country Club.

Junior Michelle Hess (Aurora, Ill./Metea Valley) led the way for the Inferno, shooting a 354 (+141), as she posted her best three 18-hole scores in each round for 47^th place. Her best score of the weekend was 116 (+45) on the second day, matching the best score of the season for the Inferno. Freshman Yazmin Fernandez-Chavez (Milwaukee, Wis./Pius XI Catholic) posted the next best score for Alverno at 438 (+225) for 48^th place, with her new season-best in 18 holes on the second day of the championships.

Senior Jenna Kornwolf (Milwaukee, Wis./Greenfield) had the next best score with a 451 (+238), shooting a season-best 164 on day two as well, placing 49^th. Senior Katie Kornwolf (Milwaukee, Wis./Greenfield) recorded her three best 18-hole scores of the year, as she had a 486 (+273) for 50^th place.

Senior Sarah Robinson (Blue Island, Ill./Dwight D. Eisenhower) competed in the first two days of the championships, shooting a 172 (+101) and 155 (+84), respectively.

Aurora University won the NACC Championship, shooting a 932 (+80) as a team and winning by 20 strokes. Yinan Lu of Marian was the individual champion, shooting a 222 (+9), finishing the three-day event with an even 72 on Monday.

The Alverno Inferno golf team has wrapped up its current schedule, but will look to add another match to its fall or spring season.
