Box Score WAUWATOSA, Wis. – Senior
Rolin West recorded a dozen kills in Alverno's conference matchup on the road against nearby foe Wisconsin Lutheran. Alverno dropped the NACC decision by a score of 3-0.
West's 13 kills give her 191 on the season and 1,064 for her career securing first place on the all-time kills list at Alverno.
Dominique Tetrault was second on the team with three kills, followed by
Rehginae Cosey. Tetrault led the team with a .250 hitting percentage, while
Sharisty Kooch had 14 assists, with West and
Elyse Kozikowski collecting one each. West secured a solo block.
The Inferno spread the wealth in terms of digs, with Kooch leading the way with eight followed by Gianniou with six. West had four.
Wisconsin Lutheran won the three sets by the scores of 25-16, 25-9, and 25-7; taking an earlier lead in the opening set and controlling much of the opening stanza.
In the second set, Wisconsin Lutheran took an early lead kick-started by a kill from Amahra Matthai making the score 4-0. The Inferno secured points to cut the lead to 16-9, which included an attack error by Elexa Varden. Wisconsin Lutheran rattled off three unanswered before Alverno took the next two points to cut the lead to 19-9.
Wisconsin Lutheran then added six points to cruise to the 25-9 victory.
Alverno again opened the third set with a 1-0 lead on an attack error by Wisconsin Lutheran. The Warriors opened up a 9-2 lead but West kill for the Inferno to cut the lead to 9-3. Wisconsin Lutheran then controlled the tempo from then on and secured the three-set win with a 25-7 win.
Alverno (3-10, 0-2 NACC) will be back in action again at home on Thursday, October 3 for its fifth home match of the season, as Alverno will host St. Norbert for a 7 p.m. start inside Reiman Gymnasium.
