Milwaukee, WI- It was a celebratory day on Saturday for the Alverno Volleyball program. Senior Day 2026 saw
Makiyah Buck (Milwaukee, WI) and
Elyse Kozikowski (Watertown, WI) recognized for their many contributions to the Inferno Volleyball program. Both student athletes have been important players and standout students in their time at Alverno.
The match against the Crimson Wave of Calumet St. Joseph was a very competitive and exciting affair, but in the end Alverno would fall by scores of 24-26, 25-19, 25-27, and 22-25.
The first set would establish the trend of the day, close sets with back and forth play. In fact set one saw ties at 21,22,23 and 24, before Calumet would score the last two points to take the first set.
Set two saw the Inferno rebound in an impressive way, taking the days most lop-sided set at 25-19.
The third set saw even scores at 23,24 and 25, before once again, CCSJ pulled out the last two points for a 27-25 win. The fourth looked as though it would send the crowd to a much deserved 5th set in this even match. Alverno would lead 20-16 before Calumet would rally and take the set and the match. The Crimson Wave would score nine of the set's last 11 points, and took the 4th by a 25-22 final.
Even in defeat it was another strong effort by the Inferno, facing their 3rd NAIA opponent in one week.
Mary Needham (San Tan Valley, AZ) would record 11 kills and
Keegan Russell (South Bend, IN) would add 9.
Beyonca Hereford (Beloit, WI) put up 19 assists and
