Alverno Closed out Ripon Tournament with Matches vs. Carroll and St.Scholastica

RIPON, Wis. —Alverno College Volleyball dropped two matches today in the final games at the Ripon Tournament hosted by Ripon College. The Inferno closed the tournament with a 3-0 loss to Carroll, before losing to College of St. Scholastica in the day's finale. 

The Inferno fall to 2-8 on the season.

Carroll 3 – 0 Alverno College: 25-14, 25-21, 25-16
Carroll controlled the tempo in the first set cruising to a 25-14 victory. Alverno College Inferno answered in the second set finding its grove but fell short 25-21. Both teams would battle for the third set but Carroll once again found its grove to take the 25-16 third set victory.

Rolin West (New Orleans, La.) led the team collecting nine kills, one block and five digs.  Izzy Gianniou had nine assists, two kills, two aces and four digs.  

St. Scholastica 3 – 0 Alverno College: 25-22, 25-11, 25-10
The first set was a very close one as both teams battled back and forth for the lead with St. Scholastica taking a 25-22 victory. The remaining sets followed a similar trajectory as the opening match for the Inferno, but the decision was in favor of St. Scholastica taking both sets with a 25-11 and 25-10 victory.

West was the top offensive player for the Inferno in the second match collecting 12 kills, two aces, two assists and six digs. Sharisty Kooch collected nine digs. Iylana Johnson also contributed six digs. Izzy Gianniou finished with 14 assists and two kills.

Alverno College will return to the court on Tuesday, September 17th as they host Maranatha Baptist. First serve is set for 7 p.m. inside Reiman Gymnasium.
