MILWAUKEE – The Alverno softball team traveled to face the MSOE Raiders this afternoon at the MSOE Raiders Field and fell to the host by the scores of 11-0 in the opener and 5-3 in game two.
Game 1
MSOE jumped out to an early 7-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning, including a leadoff bunt to open the afternoon. MSOE added four more runs in the second inning and threatened in the bottom of the third with two runners on with two down.
Maggie Wilmot got things started pitching one inning allowing seven hits, seven runs and three walks in the 13 batters faced.
Jocilyn Janeway finished the contest on the mound pitching three innings only allowing five hits, four runs, and two walks in the 16 batters faced. The Raider cruised to an 11-0 victory.
Lexi Hess,
Giselle Moreno, Sam Vinti, Halie Eschbach and
Jaycee Reyes all recorded a hit for the Inferno.
Game 2
Both teams battled to take the lead remaining scoreless in the first inning. Host MSOE added three runs in the bottom of the second inning to take a 3-0 lead. Alverno College answered in the top of the third by adding two runs to cut the lead 3-2. The Inferno when added an additional run in the fourth to tie the game three all. MSOE then plated two additional runs in the remaining of the contest to cruise to the 5-3 victory.
Pollock picked up the win for MSEOE tossing the three-inning.
Nevaeh Cruz pitched six innings for the Red and Black allowing five hits, five runs and two strikeouts in the 27 batters faced.
