Alverno College was hurt by several extended scoring droughts, and shot 24.1 percent for the game. The Green Knights shot 33.3 percent by comparison.

St. Norbert took the lead within the first three minutes of the first quarter and never relinquished it on Wednesday. The Green Knights opened the game on a 9-0 run, as Alverno was unable to find the bottom of the net until a jumper by Nixon-Boyd at the 5:30 mark. The Inferno continued to cut the deficit and held the Green Knights to 33 first-half points to remain down by only 26 at halftime.

However, Alverno managed just two points over the first six minutes of the second half, allowing St. Norbert to build a 49-11 lead by the third quarter's 1:32 mark. The Inferno fell victim to a similar shooting drought to start the fourth quarter, as St. Norbert built its lead to 34 with 6:06 to go before boosting it to the final 56-32 result.
