Inferno Fall to Wisconsin Lutheran on Senior Day, 91-52

MILWAUKEE (February 12, 2024) – Dionna Woodson posted 16 points and six rebounds as the Inferno fell to the visiting Warriors of Wisconsin Lutheran College capturing a 91-52 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference win from Reiman Gymnasium.

The loss for the Inferno moves them to 3-20, 1-13  NACC on the season. Alramahi would score the first points of the final stanza to cut the lead to 63-33. After the Warriors continued to add points to grow the lead 86-43 with two minutes left to go. Wisconsin Lutheran answered adding its final two points on a layup by Courtney Park. Alverno's Keeshya Bellows added the final points for the Inferno on a three-pointer with 00:29 seconds to go. 

The contest was tight through the early going of the first half with both teams fighting for the lead. The visitors finished the first quarter securing an 18-13 lead. Wisconsin Lutheran then continued to grow its lead in the second to take a 43-21 at the half. 


During halftime the Inferno the 2023-24 basketball seniors Victoria Parra and Keeshya Bellows. Victoria Parra is a transfer from Ellsworth Community College and is a native of El Paso, Texas. Parra is a double major in English and Education. Victoria is a shooting guard for the Inferno and has participated in the basketball program for the last two years. During her collegiate career she has recorded 39 games played, 82 total rebounds, eight blocks, 18 assists and 21 steals. She is being escorted today by her mom Erica Ramos. After graduation Victoria plans to go back to Texas and obtain a master's in education and teach at the secondary level.  
 
Keeshya Bellows is an Aurora, Illinois native. Bellows is an Integrated Studies major. Keeshya is a center for the Inferno and has participated in the basketball program for the last three and a half years. During her collegiate career she has recorded 52 games played, 382 total rebounds, 76 blocks, 71 assists and 32 steals. Bellows is Alverno's Single-Season Record Holder in Defensive Rebounds and is third in Alverno's All-Time Career Record Holder in Blocked Shots and tenth in defensive rebounds. She is being escorted today by her brothers Antonio Gantt and Erik Bellows. After graduation Keeshya plans to go back to school for Pediatric Dental Hygiene.
 
The third quarter was in favor of the Wisconsin Lutheran who outscored the Inferno 20-10 to put the Warriors ahead 63-31 heading in the fourth quarter. 

Keeshya Bellows posted 11 points and three rebounds in the 24 minutes played. Shiauna Nixon-Boyd and Kyla Jamerson finished with six points. Madalyn Kavalary finished with five points. Riley Spencer and Victoria Para both contributed five points each respectively. Laila Alramahi closed out of the scoring for Alverno will adding two points.   
 

Alverno finished shooting 30.6 percent from the field, and was strong at the free throw line as it was 15-of-17 (88.2 percent) on the evening. WLC held a 49-13 edge in bench points. The Inferno also forced 14 turnovers and collected 16 points off turnovers.

Margie Stevens finished with a game-high 18, while Jayden Hill, Janiyah Goner and Marin Risen all tallied 10 points as well in the win. Wisconsin Lutheran was 32-of-58 (55.2 percent) from the field while also shooting 18-of-28 (64.3 percent) from the charity stripe. 

Alverno will be right back in action Wednesday night as they host Illinois tech in its final home game of the regular season. Tip-off is slated for 7 p.m. inside Reiman Gymnasium.
