MILWAUKEE, Wis. – Concordia Chicago outscored Alverno College 14-10 in the final period to break open a tight game and take a 61-42 NACC Conference win over the Inferno inside Reiman Gymnasium.
 
The Inferno led early, holding a 17-15 advantage at the end of the first quarter, but the Cougars answered with adding 16 points to take a 31-24 lead at the half. Alverno cut the lead in third in the third quarter, but the Cougars built its lead outscoring Alverno in the final quarter to cruise taking a 61-42 victory.
 
Alverno College is now 3-18 overall and 1-11 in the NACC Conference. Concordia Chicago is 6-15 and 3-9 in the NACC.
 
Morgan Whitten led Alverno scorers finishing with securing 11 points, four rebounds and three steals. Shiauna Nixon-Boyd also had 11 points and two rebounds. Keeshya Bellows, Dionna Woodson and Riley Spence all contributed four each respectively.
 
Concordia Chicago outrebounded the Inferno 43-28 in the game and the Inferno forced 22 turnovers in the contest.
 
Alverno finished the evening shooting 55.0 percent from the free throw line. The Inferno made just three of its 16 three-point attempts.
 
Alverno will return to action on Wednesday, February 7^th when they travel to De Pere, Wisconsin for a conference matchup against St. Norbert. Tip-off is slated for 7:00 p.m. inside Mulva Sports Center.
