MILWAUKEE, Wis. - The Alverno College women's basketball team secured their second win of the season against the Crimson Waves of Calumet College of St. Joseph this Saturday afternoon, recording an 66-54 victory in Reiman Gymnasium.
Alverno College came out hot in the first quarter, out scoring the Crimson Waves 18-10, as well in the second quarter, 23-14. The Crimson Waves were able to find a groove in the third and fourth quarters, scoring 17-17 in the third and 13-8 in the fourth. Despite their second-half efforts, the Inferno secured the win, 66-54.Â

Alverno College (2-0) scored 26 points off 31 turnovers from the Crimson Waves. The Inferno led the game in many categories, including 3-pointers, 27.3 percent and field goals, 26 percent. At the free-throw line, the Inferno shot 71.4 percent (25-35), out shooting the Crimson Wave, who had 62.1 percent (18-29).Â

Senior Morgan Golabowski led Alverno with 18 points, five rebounds, and one assist. Shiauna Nixon-Boyd recorded 16 points, 16 rebounds, and four assists. Riley Spencer and Gemini Ventura recorded 13 points each, with a combined three assists, and 4 rebounds. Kyla Jamerson contributed 6 points, eleven rebounds, and three assists.

The Inferno head across town to Mount Mary University on Monday, November 18th with tip-off slated for 7:00 p.m. at Bloechl Center.
