MILWAUKEE – The Alverno volleyball team returned home to Reiman Gymnasium this Saturday afternoon in a conference match up against Concordia-University Chicago.
Concordia-Chicago gained the early lead, winning set 1, 25-8. The Inferno fought their way back in sets 2, keeping the score close until the Cougars were able to use their momentum from set 1 to pull ahead. The Cougars won set 2, 25-16.
The third set saw the Inferno have an amazing come back, keeping the Cougars within two-point reach throughout the match. The Inferno stayed hot with a 5-point serving run by Junior Sharisty Kooch. The set continued to stay close, with both teams going back and forth with many rallies. Ultimately, the Cougars pulled ahead, winning the set and securing the match, 28-26.
The Inferno's offensive and defense were hot throughout the game, with offense being led by Senior Rodin West with 15 kills, 2 aces, and 10 digs. Senior Izzy Gianniou aided on the offensive with 14 assists on the night. The defense was led by Kooch with 9 digs as well as Junior Breann Flannery with 7 digs.
Alverno (3-19, 0-10 NACC) are back at home on Thursday, October 31st, in another conference match up against Milwaukee School of Engineering at 7pm!
