MILWAUKEE, Wis. (September 5, 2023) – Alverno College women's soccer team fell to nearby Mount Mary University, 3-1, after the Blue Angels scored its third goal in the second half.
Mount Mary (1-2) outshot the Inferno, 20-14, but Alverno College (0-1) had 11 saves in the contest. Alverno also finished with 11 shots on goal.
At the 4:02 mark, Amanda Antonio scored on an assisted goal by Lexi Behringer and put the Blue Angels ahead, 1-0.
Moments later, the Blue Angles' Sam Reyes extended the margin before intermission, 2-0.
After halftime, Mount Mary's Sam Reyes added an insurance goal to close out the second half.
Freshman
Alianna Herrera (Kenosha, Wis.) scored her first collegiate goal as an Inferno before time expired, 3-1. Herrera finished three shot attempts with three shots on goal.
Newcomer
Mamah Konneh (Milwaukee, Wis.) made her collegiate debut collecting four shots with two shots on goal.
Georgia Wise finished with two shots on goal and
Haley Youngblood also recorded one shot on goal.
Senior
Georgia Wise and
Emily Anguiano recorded a total of 11 saves in the loss.
The Alverno College soccer team will return to action on Friday, September 8
th hosting its home season opener as they welcome Blackburn to campus. Kickoff is slated for 4 p.m.
