LISLE, Ill. (April 8, 2023) - Alverno College softball team surrendered an 8-0 decision in game one and a 1-7 decision in game two this afternoon.
With the losses are the Infernos (3-13, 0-4 NACC) falling to 3-13 overall while Benedictine (14-6, 4-2 NACC) improves to 14-6 on the season.
In game one Alverno College's offense plagued, as the Inferno did not score, combining for just two hits as a team. Benedictine tacked on two runs in the second, four runs in the third, one in the fourth and two in the fifth for the five-rule. Natalie Akin suffered the loss, allowing seven hits and walking two in the 18 batter faced.
Game two was highlighted by Izzy Torres's second home run of the season to lead Alverno offensively. The Eagles of Benedictine added four in the first inning with Alverno answering the second after Torres hit a home run to cut the lead to 4-1. Both teams would remain scoreless for the next two innings. Benedictine plates its final runs of the contest in the fifth and sixth innings to take the 7-1 victory.
Alverno College will return to action Monday, Apr. 10 with a home non-conference doubleheader versus St. Norbert. Game times are set for 3 p.m. and 5 p.m.
