MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The Alverno College softball team fell in doubleheader action (L:13-4, L:15-4) to the Green Knight of St. Norbert College this afternoon.
Alverno manufactured four runs on six hits, led by
Lexi Hess going a perfect 2-of-2 with one double and a pair of runs scored in the loss. Overall, five Infernos were hit performances.
St. Norbert (8-10-1) scored four runs in the opening frame and held a 4-0 advantage heading into the bottom of the first inning.
Natalie Akin answered by hitting one outside of the park to cut the lead 4-3.
The Green Knights answered in the third inning adding five additional runs to grow the lead to 9-3. In the fourth inning, the Green Knights collected another run to extend the lead to 10-3.
St. Norbert in the fifth inning plated three runs to take a 13-3 lead. Alverno responded in the fifth, tallying one run but wasn't enough with SNC taking the 13-4 victory.
In the nightcap, things stayed in favor of St. Norbert as they added four runs in the second inning. St. Norbert had two runs in the third to hold a 6-0 advantage heading into the bottom of the third inning.
Giselle Moreno hit her first home run of the season to cut the lead 6-3. The Red and Black scored one in the fourth inning when
Andrea Ramirez doubled to right field to score
Sam Marchant to chip away at the lead to make it a 6-4 game.
The Green Knights answered in the fifth inning adding two additional runs to grow the lead to 8-4. In the sixth inning, the Green Knights collected another two runs to extend the lead 10-4 lead.
St. Norbert in the final inning was able to plate five runs to cruise to the 15-4 victory.
Wednesday (Apr. 12), Alverno will return to action as they host Lakeland in doubleheaders action at 3 and 5 p.m. respectively.
