Box Score 2 ROCKFORD, Illinois – The Alverno College softball suffered a pair of losses to Rockford University this afternoon. Alverno had seven hits in the opening, falling 5-2. The Inferno couldn't hold off the Regents falling 6-5 in the nightcap.
GAME 1 | Alverno 2, Rockford 5
Natalie Akin (2-11) got the ball to start for Alverno College (4-26) and took the loss. Akin pitched six innings only allowing seven hits, five runs, two walks and two strikeouts in the 27 batters faced.
Offensively, the Inferno was paced by
Izzy Torres went 2-for-3 on the day at the plate with an RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Rockford started the game with adding four runs in the first two innings. Alverno answered in the top of the fourth inning to plate two runs but wasn't enough as Rockford added two additional runs in the remaining innings to take the 5-2 victory.
GAME 2 | Alverno 5, Ripon 6
The Inferno yielded a 6-5 decision to Rockford in game two after the game went into an extra inning.
Maggie Wilmot (0-4) took the loss in the circle for Alverno College (4-27).
In the batter's box, the Inferno was paced by
Hailie Eschbach who went 2-for-3 on the day with two RBIs.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Alverno got the scoring started early, putting one run on the board in the top of the first inning. Alverno extended the lead in the top of the third inning adding another run to take a 2-0 lead. Rockford then added two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to take tie the score. Rockford then added another run in the fifth inning to take a 3-2 lead. The Inferno answered in the top of the sixth inning with adding two runs to take a 4-3 lead. Alverno stretched the lead in the top of the seventh adding a run to grow the lead 5-3. The host answered in the bottom with two runs to tie the game. Both teams battled for the win but Rockford was able to add an additional run to take the 6-5 victory.

Alverno will return home as they host Wisconsin Lutheran College for Senior Day on Sunday, April 30. First pitch is slated for 12:00 p.m. at the Alverno Softball Field.
